McNay- June Elizabeth (nee Coopman) On December 27th, 2019, arrived at the gates of heaven and is now with her Lord and in the arms of her husband and the love of her life, Sandy (Alexander) McNay, joining her parents John and Lottie Coopman, her sister Violet (Roy) Shaubel, her brother Howard (Greta) Coopman, her brother Glenn (Alice) Coopman and her sister in law Christina (Glen) House and the child that she lost at birth. Although she will be sadly missed by her sister in law Jean (Bud-deceased) Simpson, her children Sandi and Bill Teal, Jim and Sue McNay, Bonnie and Jeff Smyth, Laurie Dayboll and Phil Bearss, Joanne McNay and Rich Overholt, her 18 Grandchildren and her 28 Great Grandchildren (A statistic that she was very proud of and happy to share with her friends at Portal Village Retirement Home whenever the chance arose) as well as many Nieces and Nephews. We all realize that June has been working towards this goal all of her life. She was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend and always put others first. A dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years, a volunteer for out of the cold, 30 years volunteering at Port Colborne Gift and Thrift , a retired teacher, teaching at Lorraine Central School and carrying on her crochet classes with several of the students for years after she retired. A generous, selfless woman that was always eager to lend a helping hand, a supportive shoulder and an eager ear. We, the family, would like to thank Dr. Rungi for the many years of care and support. The entire staff of Portal Village for the wonderful care you all provided for Mom during the last ten years, and the special care, compassion and support provided not only to Mom but to all of Mom’s children, during Mom’s last days. There are so many people at Portal that went above and beyond, that we can’t list them, in fear of missing someone, but what we can say is that the family appreciated all the special treatment, the support, the kindness, the meals and especially all the hugs. Our Mom was fortunate to have had a second family in the staff of Portal Village. A special thank you, for the extraordinary care, kindness and compassion of Dr. Scher for the past year as well as Dawn and Jocelyn of Paramed during the last few days. Mom was so fortunate to have been in such capable, caring hands. Visitation will take place at the Davidson Funeral Home,135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on December 31st from 10am to 12pm. A celebration of June’s life will follow; internment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, HWY 20, Fonthill. In lieu of flowers it is June’s wish that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation to help find a cure for the disease that her Great Grandson, Seth, has been battling since he was two years of age.
