Obituary of Samuel Stevenett

STEVENETT, Samuel John- passed away peacefully in his 97th year while surrounded by his family at the Welland General Hospital on Sunday July 1, 2018.  Born in Winger Ontario he has lived in this area all of his life.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Ruth (nee Gifford), loving father of Carolyn Merritt (Paul), Tom Stevenett (Cindy), Anne Kennie (Karl), Doug Stevenett (Kathy), cherished grandfather of Joel Stevenett (Ashley), Lauren Merritt (Kyle), Hollie Stock (Peter), Amanda Cajucom (David), Geoffrey Merritt (Sara) and Samuel Stevenett.  Also survived by 6 great grandchildren.  Predeceased by his parents John and Lena Stevenett, sister Grace Sider and brothers William and Charles Stevenett.  Samuel began his teaching career in 1941 and retired as principal of William E. Brown school in 1977. He was also actively involved in many community volunteer activities.  In the community of Portal Village many enjoyed his desserts at pot luck luncheons.  A special thank you to the entire staff at Portal Village for your friendship through the years.  Family and friends are invited to visit DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday July 4, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  Funeral service to be held in the Davidson Chapel on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow in Zion Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Leprosy Mission or the Gathering Place.
