Obituary of Joan Marie Blanchard
BLANCHARD- Joan. Peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2019, Joan Marie Blanchard (McNulty) passed away at Northland Pointe, with her family at her side in her 86th year. Joan will be reunited with her loving husband James (2015). Joan is survived by her loving children Stephen (Linda), Patricia Benner, son-in-law Barry Benner, Barbara (John). Predeceased by her infant sons Joel and James. Survived by three grandchildren Katelin Blanchard and fiancé Ricky Savage, Fallon Benner (Shane Harris) and Regan Benner, three great grandchildren Kinley, Rowan and Callum Savage, predeceased by infant great grandsons Camden and Cohen Savage. Joan is survived by her brother Patrick McNulty (Olga), her sister Judy Zaparaniuk (Ed). Predeceased by her sister Ann (Ron) Booker. Joan was a lifelong resident of Port Colborne. Joan served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Montreal. Upon returning to Port Colborne, Joan began her career in media, first with the Evening Tribune and then on to C-HOW radio for 25 years. With her media background, she worked for Aids Niagara and the Niagara Health System before retiring. Joan’s passion was golf, taught by her father Edward at a young age, right up to her last years. Joan was always ready to teach anyone who were up for playing. A special thanks to all the caregiver’s at Northland Pointe who showed so much compassion and care. A special thanks to niece Linda Goss who meant so much to Joan and Jim over the years. Cremation has taken place. The Blanchard family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. followed by the funeral service in the Davidson Chapel with Pastor Brian Lofthouse officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Port Cares.
